Not so trustworthy - don't always show up and price gouge on every possible federal holiday

They price gouge on holidays, and they apply it to every definition of federal holidays, regardless of the actual holiday observance preferences of the sitters themselves, which is the logical use for holiday upcharges. For example, a sitter tried to upcharge me 100% for the entire week of October 11-17, for “Indigenous Peoples/Columbus Day”. 7 days of doubled price. When I actually used it for a holiday, I also didn't get a picture as requested the morning of the holiday, like I did every other visit, so I doubt they even showed up.

Ultimately if you don't care about price at all it's probably fine, just use cameras to make sure they do what they say (which I do now). If price is an issue beware, as they leverage holidays and variable upcharge rates between different clients to gouge their customers.

Sitters with Meowtel are independent contractors who set their own rates for services, including the option to apply a holiday surcharge as well as the percentage for that surcharge should they choose to implement one. This allows them to manage their schedules and availability, especially during high-demand times such as federal holidays. The surcharge can vary between sitters, and this information is always available in the pricing section of their profiles for transparency.

For reference, we define holiday pricing windows as 3 days before and 3 days after a federal holiday to accommodate the increased demand many sitters experience during these periods. Customers have the flexibility to choose sitters based on their pricing preferences, and we encourage you to review the sitters’ profiles in your area to find the best fit for your needs.

As for your concern about not receiving a photo on the morning of your holiday visit, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience or concern this may have caused, as an update should be sent for every visit. Rest assured, we’re always here to help whenever any concerns arise, and we will investigate when complaints are brought to us.

When I booked a sitter

When I booked a sitter, the price quoted was 60% higher than the price on the sitter's profile. I have cancelled my request and would not use a business that does this. The 60% increase was the sitter's fee, not any other fees.

An exceptional service!

I've been using Meowtel for cat-sitting services for several years and have had nothing but great experiences with their sitters. They are specifically cat-friendly (from the sociable and playful to the "invisible" to all but their own human). Sitters always let you know when they've visited (as they're arriving, during, and/or after), let you know about feeding, water, and litter box status, any interactions - often with photo documentation - and sometimes even provide extra services like soothing cat music during their visits to shy (selective!) kitties. They really care and the ease of communication makes it a lot easier for the "helicopter" cat parent to be away for a any amount of time.

I love working with Meowtel

I love working for this platform and I wish it continued success. Clients are satisfied with the convenience of the app and it's user friendliness. I love that I'm insured by Meowtel and that they take Sitter screening so seriously. This allows clients to feel more at ease knowing they have someone vetted and capable watching their sweet kitties.

I am a Meowtel Cats sitter

I am a Meowtel Cats sitter. I have been for almost 2 years. Those of you complaining about the refund policy. Let me set your straight. You’re using the wrong cat sitter. The cat sitter is allowed to waive that cancellation policy. I myself have never kept anyone’s money before during or the last visit of a reservation. If the clients plans change, I give them, Meowtel, full instruction to give them a full refund. So you need to find yourself a new Meowtel cat sitter.

Used Meowtel for first time recently

Used Meowtel for first time recently. Experience was positive. App was easy to use with good information on the cat sitters including short background, reviews and rates. Customer will meet sitter ahead of time to make sure they are good match. Meowtel incorporates nice in app messaging system to relay info and keep cat owners up to date. Will use again and would recommend.

Sitter canceled last minute. Not dependable.

We paid and scheduled for three days of cat sitting and the sitter canceled with less than a week’s notice because she was “moving.” Like she didn’t know that she’s be unavailable? Our first experience with Meowtel will be our last.

Update, October 30: meowtel was very fast with their refund and offered to help find someone else, but by that point that damage was done.

Keyne was wonderful!

Keyne was wonderful! Calm, easy-going, my cat was comfortable with her. Since she is a certified tech, could trust she would be able to give his injections and subs, and to recognize and appropriately handle any medical issues he may have had. She was thorough about having his vet contact info, kept me posted with pictures and notes on how he was doing. She left a very detailed "diary" of his meds and his behaviors, disposition, and litter use. Definitely recommend and would use her (and Meowtel) again!

Ruth was amazing

Ruth was amazing, she stayed in consistent contact with us while we were gone and sent pictures every day. She cared for our 4 cats like they were her own. Couldn’t recommend your company and more importantly Ruth more to anyone looking for help with their cats while on vacation.

Charlotte was fantastic!

Charlotte was fantastic and took a huge load off our shoulders by taking care of our two kitties that didn't get along while we were out of town for a week. She was super clean, personable and accommodating while house sitting and caring for our cats. When we returned, our cats were happy and well cared for. I highly recommend Charlotte. We are so sad that we are moving out of State!

The best thing that’s happened to cat care

Finally a pet care company catering to just cat!! The hiring process makes sure each sitter is a true cat lover and caretaker. The costumer service is AMAZING and the sitters are great with communicating detailed updates and send pictures.

Ron, A Trusted Cat Sitter…

Ron of Sebastian pet sat our three felines for five days and did an outstanding job. He sent pictures of our trio, Jerry, Lexi, and Dungaree playing with him. He arrived in the morning to feed and clean up before 10:00 AM.

Meowtel quickly turned a negative into a positive…

The pet sitter I hired through Meowtel unfortunately felt she did not have to keep the litter boxes clean while I was gone even though I was paying for two 45-minute visits per day. I came home to an absolute mess. I sent pictures and an incriminating email from the pet sitter to Meowtel. They immediately told me they were investigating my complaint. They apologized both by email and phone, gave me a partial refund, and replaced a damaged piece of furniture. I will definitely use them again, although a different pet sitter of course. I was impressed by how quickly they made amends.

Excellent first experience!

Excellent first experience with Meowtel. The cat sitter was prompt to reply to my messages, sent daily texts and photos and was great with the cats. Even the shy one, who usually hides, came out to meet her during the "meet & greet". Very reassuring to know the cats were in good hands. Will definitely use Meowtel again when needed.

Great service!

I have used Meowtel twice now and have used the same cat sitter both times. I had a cat with special medical needs and meowtel made it easy to fine a sitter that could attend to his needs. I will continue to use the cat sitter Roza because she’s knowledgeable, attentive, and very easy to work with. She absolutely goes above and beyond. The only negative I have to say about meowtel is that if you need to cancel you only get a credit back towards your next meowtel booking.

Site does not stand behind the customers wheen it comes to disputes

I've never had a sitter that was paid for a 44 minute visit stay for 45 minutes. I travel a lot and work crazy hours while away 20-40 hour days. I'm often not able to review the footage until after their "agreement" window and had to pay for services not rendered. Have also had negative reviews rejected. The site does not seem to stand behind their customers and their pets as much as their sitters... i wish there was a better site

Great service, great sitter!

I needed a last minute pet sitting. I found a sitter on Meowtel, and reached out to her. I got a super quick response from a really qualified sitter (Julie's Purrfect Cat Care. She was super easy to work with, communicated during the visit, and sent lots of videos and photos. I will definitely use Meowtel and Julie's Purrfect Cat Care again. Fantastic experience.

Don't even bother if you're trying to be a sitter

Their screening criteria makes absolutely no sense. So most of the questions seem reasonable, like how often do you want to work, how far are you willing to drive, what would you do if you saw the trash needed to be taken out/litter box needs to be scooped. Basic stuff. You can answer every question right and still get rejected. I tried this with a few different accounts to test my theory after being rejected the first time when it didn't make sense.
What's more, you get automated responses when you leave feedback (so probably will happen here as well).
Based on the questions and rejection "results", it sounds like you are required to commit your life to this as your new full time job which is absolutely ridiculous.
And after you've been rejected "they invite you to re submit in 12 months".
