I always use Generali!

The policy was easily to understand, affordable, and when I called with a question, it was quickly answered. I always buy Generali travel policies for these reasons!

The worst experience ever

I wish zero stars one is too generous. The worst experience ever getting our insurance refund when my family fell terribly ill and had to cancel our family trip. We started this claim Aug. 24th and have still not even received acceptance after waiting for their broken system they claim was down and could not even send our documents. Their requirements are set up so one will get so frustrated they don’t follow through jumping through all the unnecessary steps of getting the documents to them. The first day we called we were told system was down for at least 72 hours and could not receive any thing to get our claim started. Then the representative told us not to worry we have a year to file. Well people don’t want to wait a year we need our claim funds immediately as we suffered Covid so now not only were we out $11,000 plus dollars I couldn’t work and hubby is retired. So we need our claim settled like yesterday. Last week I got a email finally saying they are looking over the documents. And would let us know if they needed anything else to go forward. I don’t know what else we could send them other than maybe our DNA and an armor or leg!!! I’m sure their strategy is to make this delay last as long as possible. We have submitted more than enough documentation to prove our illness and claim acceptance and should be reimbursed our funds by this week. We feel Generali Travel USA is on the brink of being fraudulent and designed to frustrate and make claimants jump through unnecessary hoops when they are feeling very ill and set back already. We will never use that insurance or stay at an Airbnb that doesn’t refund by host or use a reputable 5 star company. Unless this is claim is paid immediately. We will make sure to let all of our friends and family know as well. So hopefully they do the right thing and pay out immediately or we will avoid this business like I said with our very large network.

Waleed was knowledgeable and able to…

Waleed was knowledgeable and able to modify my policy quickly but took his time to make sure I understood each of the changes and its effect. I have used Generali in the past and am very pleased with the service and compensation I received when my flight was cancelled changing my entire trip and today when modifying my policy. I will continue to prefer Generali.

Some website issues, but good policy.

I only rated 4 Stars due to problems with trying to pay for the policy using Generali's website, I tried for days and only received errors on the payment page. I finally purchased the Generali policy through insuremytrip.com . Generali's coverage and pricing met my needs over others. Hopefully I don't need the insurance, but glad I have it.

This insurance for flight cancellation…

This insurance for flight cancellation is worthless. If you get sick and miss a flight they will want a physician's statement showing diagnosis and discharge paper work. It was $38 per ticket and the flights were only $257 each. What a racquet. I cant believe Expedia sells this to people that buy tickets from them. After this experience I will never use Expedia and never use there insurance. What a rip off.

THE VERY WORST INSURANCE COMPANY…

THE VERY WORST INSURANCE COMPANY EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD. WHEN YOU ARE READY TO REPORT THE CLAIM, THEY MAKE IT VERY DIFFICULT TO UP LOAD THE EVIDENCE, WHICH I THINK IT IS BY DESIGN.

THEY HARDLY EVER ANSWER THE CALLS ONCE YOUR CLAIM IS IN. IN MY OPINION ALSO BY DESIGN. I STAYED ON LINE FOR ONE FULL HOUR AND THEY STILL DID NOT ANSWER OR RETURN THE CALL.

THEY KEEP STALLING SAYING THEY NEVER GOT THE CLAIM FILED WHICH IS A LIE, EVEN AFTER YOU FILED IT TWICE.

I HAD TO REPORT THEM TO THE INSURANCE COMMISSIONER AFTER WHICH THEY FINALLY, AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS OF BACK AND FORTH, AGREED TO PAY UP ONLY TO DO IT ON LINE WITH A SYSTEM THAT DOES NOT WORK, ALSO I THINK BY DESIGN. NO PAYMENT THERE EITHER.

I WOULD NEVER BUY AN INSURANCE FROM THIS COMPANY, EVER.

Horrible experience with this company

Horrible experience with this company! We missed our connections at Heathrow in both directions, and going home, we couldn't get another flight for 24 hours. Plus, our luggage was lost and it took 8 days to track down. It was near impossible getting a hold of a human- they were no help at all. Then to file our claim when we got home, they make you jump through all sorts of hoops- insane paperwork requirements, then they kept claiming not to have received our documentation. It took about 6 months and a ton of time to get any reimbursement. In the end, it didn't cover as much as promised. I would never use this company again. I'd rather go without travel insurance and take my chances.

My dad died, we didn't get to go on trip, only received 30% of money

I have had a terrible experience with Generali Travel Insurance. We had a big anniversary trip planned to Hawaii in May 2024, sadly my father died and we did not get to go at the last minute. I have provided all the documentation that they have asked for (receipts, obituary, death certificate), but have only received about 43% of my money (as of Aug 2024). I would not recommend Generali.

Scam!!! I am extremely frustrated with this…

I am extremely frustrated with this company and will never buy travel insurance again based on this worthless experience. I have filed a valid claim, called the company, was denied. Called several more times and left messages to no avail. Called the main number and spoke to someone then said this guy will call me back a few more days later, the claim agent called while i was at work and could not answer so I called back, left a message of when he could call me but i have heard nothing since. This is my letter to him after he has denied my claim:
Dear Mr. Gutierrez,

It is my understanding that on page 13 of 43 " Family Related"

7. you Or your Traveling Companion will be attending a Family Member’s birth. The pregnancy must begin after the purchase of this Policy, must be
certified by a Physician and the expected due date must fall within 1 month of your scheduled Trip dates;
GEN TICE14.01US 01.2019 " Would be a covered event since I was attending my daughter's baby's birth. The pregnancy certainly began after the purchase of this policy and the due date fell within a month of my scheduled trip date.

Is there a misunderstanding?

I have just finished reading the reviews of this company. It appears to be a scam company and travelocity/expedia should be held responsible for pushing this company since you don't even get to pick who you are covered by when buying flight insurance.

I paid close to $500 to Generali Global to insure my flight, cruise and stay in Iceland. Our luggage was delayed and damaged by the airline. I used their phone assistance to help with the language barrier in an attempt to help get the luggage. The phone service, which had a separate premium was worthless. I filed a claim for about $60 to pay me back for items I had to buy while my luggage was delayed. Generali made me jump through all kinds of hoops to recover the $60. They made the process so difficult that I have given up and will not try and recover the $60. If Generali is willing to make the process so hard to recover $60 imagine what hoops they would have you jump through if you had a substantial claim. I am completely unhappy with Generali Global and will never use their insurance again.

The person that assisted me was very courteous and efficient.…

The person that assisted me was very courteous and helpful collecting information.
I tried to do it on line and I encountered some delays and issues with the payment section. She was able to resolve the problem efficiently and successfully without delays.

Fine, hope I don't need to use

I had to call to actually get my questions answered, even then I'm really not sure it's all clear, but hopefully we wont have to use it anyways. Also UX idea! please put that you don't take amex! I kept getting vague errors over and over and over again with no reason at all. Finally tried a different card, but it would help to list the cards you take.

Itinerary corrections made efficiently!

I made an error on my travel dates which needed to be corrected and I was able to do it quickly and efficiently. Received an updated contract with new travel dates with no issues. Helpful agent was pleasant and speedy!
